How Chinese Medicine Approaches Health

Rather than treating a diagnosis alone, Chinese Medicine looks for patterns of imbalance unique to each individual. Two people with similar symptoms may receive different treatments, depending on what is underlying those symptoms. This may involve supporting the smooth flow of Qi and Blood, addressing areas of stagnation or deficiency, and considering the whole person alongside their current health presentation.

Stress, Anxiety & Musculoskeletal Health

Paula commonly works with people experiencing stress, anxiety-related symptoms and musculoskeletal concerns. This may include neck and shoulder tension, headaches, lower back discomfort and the physical effects of demanding or fast-paced lifestyles.

Treatment often focuses on settling the nervous system, encouraging healthy circulation and easing areas of tension.

Women’s & Hormonal Health

Paula works with women at various stages of life, including menstrual health, preconception care, pregnancy support, perimenopause and menopause.

Treatment may focus on supporting healthy blood flow, encouraging cycle regularity and gently assisting hormonal balance, while addressing the underlying pattern contributing to symptoms and strengthening overall resilience.

An Integrated Approach

Each consultation begins with a thorough discussion of your health history, current concerns and goals. Diagnosis is guided by the principles of Chinese Medicine, identifying patterns that may be contributing to symptoms. Acupuncture may be used alone or integrated with techniques such as cupping, gua sha or moxibustion, depending on what is most appropriate for you.
